Between Côte Roannaise and Côtes-du-Forez, a new wine route has been created in the Loire

There is now a wine route in Côte Roannaise! Roannais Tourisme and Roannais Agglomération, leaders of the project, have just inaugurated it at the beginning of spring, by affixing the new signage which allows you to travel from north to south of the Loirethe 215 ha of the vineyard, from La Pacaudière to Saint-Jean-Saint-Maurice, an emblematic village.

“The route is intended to be authentic, we do not go through major roads. The bike loops take the most beautiful paths of the Roannais Coast,” assures Yannis Dumoulin, project manager at Roannais Tourisme. The Roanne winegrowers had dreamed of this project for a long time and took their colleagues from Côtes-du-Forez, the neighboring vineyard, into this adventure.

70% of wines produced in organic farming

“They are not the same territories. The wines have a different character, but the grape variety (gamay) is common,” explains Yannis Dumoulin. For the more sporty, Roannais Tourisme and Roannais Agglomération have designed mountain bike routes (7 loops) through the most beautiful paths of the Côte Roannaise which allow you to go by bike to each winegrower.

“The Roanne vineyard is a small territory, rich in discovery, where the wines produced are mainly in conversion or organic farming appellation (70%),” recalls Yannis Dumoulin. It brings together 39 winegrowers spread across 26 estates. On the Forézien side, the vineyard which is nestled on the first volcanic hillsides of the Massif Central brings together 9 winegrowers and a cooperative cellar spread over 150 ha.

Between Côte Roannaise and Côtes-du-Forez, passing tourists can stop off at 90 providers with the Vignobles & discoveries label, while contemplating exciting landscapes.
