However, one element could explain this North/South distinction according to RTE: indeed, in the north of France, gas-heated fireplaces are more numerous. Thus, a drop in their consumption linked to heating is not reflected in the Enedis data, unlike the departments of the southern half, in which electric heaters are more widespread.
If Enedis did not reveal data for the two Corsican departments, EDF reported in January that a 12% drop in electricity consumption had been recorded on the Isle of Beauty between October and December.
