In our departments. Towers, skyscrapers, cathedrals… These buildings that touch the stars

Welcome to 43e floor, 171 meters high: the dimensions of the latest of Lyon’s towers are dizzying, and its silhouette which stands in the Part-Dieu business district, still under construction, is all the more impressive.
The Two Lyon tower reached its final height in January 2023, but it does not exceed Incity, its neighbor, which rises to more than 200 meters… and which is the third tallest tower in France.
With five meters taller than the Part-Dieu tower, Two Lyon becomes the second tallest tower in the Rhone capital and the tenth standing at more than 70 meters. 60,000m2 offices, a luxury hotel with 168 roomsa building that reflects the image of the neighborhood: dynamic, modern, functional, a crossroads for all modes of transport.
The business district, a crossroads between all modes of transport in Lyon around the station, is redrawing its contours and these modern lookouts are standing guard.
Sentries also stand in more residential neighborhoods, far from economic activity.
In Lyon, accommodation with a view of the city more than 100 meters high
In Lyon, Saint-Etienne or Grenoble, residents sometimes have breakfast above the clouds… Privileged people? Not only that, the buildings that defy the laws of gravity are not only business buildings but also housing, some built in the 1970s on the outskirts of city centers and which today happen to be sought-after addresses.
In the Duchère district, in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, a panoramic tower culminates, like a lighthouse, 100 meters above the ground.
It was in 1972 that theLyon architect François-Régis Cottin delivers this residential tower with no less than 26 floors, or more than 91 meters in height.
There, we find 106 apartments, incredibly bright, not overlooked, with a breathtaking view over the entire city and which, in good weather, can extend as far as the Alps.
Among our neighbors in Isère, in Grenoble, no less than six architects looked at the cradle of the Three Towers completed in 1968 after three years of work in the Ile Verte district.
In Grenoble, the tallest buildings in Europe
With their 28 floors and 98 meters high, they were the tallest buildings ever built in Europe when they were inaugurated. Today they are still the tallest buildings in the city.
In the city surrounded by mountains, they survey the surrounding massifs, taunting them with their names: the Mont-Blanc, Belledonne and Vercors towers.
Today, meeting the challenge of verticality must respond to environmental concerns. In the Loire, in Saint-Etienne, in the Châteaucreux district, we built high but also eco-friendly.
Remarkable religious buildings
In Puy-en-VelayNotre Dame Cathedral with a bell tower that rises to 56 meters.
In Lyonthe Fourvière Basilica whose towers rise to 48 meters.
In Bourg-en-Bressethe Notre-Dame co-cathedral of Bourg-en-Bresse, with a bell tower 70 meters away.
In Saint-Etienne: the Tésé tower, housing of the future
This tower will be remarkable in more than one way. By its height, already: peaking at 58 meters, it becomes the tallest building in Saint-Etienne and innovates in its mode of energy consumption: with 1,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels on the facades and roofs, the tower will produce more energy than it consumes.
Fifteen levels of accommodation for fifty-six apartments, ranging from T2 to T9, with the promise of significant savings for its occupants.
In other originalities, a T9 with seven bedrooms, with a view to shared accommodation. And at the top, a common roof terrace accessible to all tenants is imagined as a true “social heart”.
The latest lighthouse erected in the region aims to be high tech, eco-responsible and creator of social cohesion, a triple challenge taken up well beyond the simple feat of verticality.
