Pont-d’Ain. From perfumers to hot air balloons, Rotin Filé supplies a wide clientele

Régis Gaude, the director of Rotin Filé could talk for hours about “his rattan”, the main material of his activity located on rue du 1^er September 1944, in Pont-d’Ain, on a site which was once the flagship of industrial painting, Vérilac, this company bought in 1996 by the chemical industrial group Akzo Nobel.

Rotin Filé was born in 1937 near Bourg-de-Péage (Drôme), where the grandfather of the current manager had designed rattan shoe soles. But the activity of this company will lose its splendor, before joining Meximieux, a few years later.

“We welcome renowned artists”

Rotin Filé settled on the banks of the Ain in 2016, with strong development in the field of rattan: “We work 80% with creative leisure players around the world, and we set up training courses throughout the year, for activities related to the fields of basketry, caning, remapping. We also welcome renowned artists in specific fields such as the work of barley straw and Colombian rye, and the presence in the walls of Rotin Filé by Diego Andres Delacruz, specialist in this very particular art. »

A third generation at the head of Rotin Filé

The company is diversifying in 2018, with a show room covering nearly 450 m² which reveals outdoor lounges, where interior and exterior architects come to draw some design ideas, for luxury villas, in Miami (United States), or on other well-known tourist sites around the world .

“We have some supply concerns at the moment with the events around the Suez Canal,” indicates Régis Gaude. The company has just acquired a 1,200 m building² on Jujurieux, for the storage of its products and also provides a relay point for online transactions.
