While artificial tanning centers are no longer popular due to recent regulations, an establishment offering UV cabins opened on March 8, at 8 rue de Lodi.

“I noticed that Stéphanoises were going to Lyon for UV sessions, so I wanted to bring this offer to Saint-Étienne,” explains Lydia, the manager. At 24, the young Ligerian took over the lease of the premises occupied until 2014 by a gym and completely transformed the space.

In a white decor evoking the South, three cabins with ultraviolet lamps have been fitted out, “including two full ones for the body, and one facial for the face and bust”.

After a BTS in negotiation and customer relations at the Tézenas-du-Montcel high school, a bachelor’s degree in fashion and luxury marketing then five years as a sales advisor in a men’s ready-to-wear boutique in Lyon, Lydia followed compulsory training.

“As with the sun, you should not abuse it”

“They are UVA and, as with the sun, it should not be abusedbecause the health risk must never be neglected,” underlines Lydia who, before the first session, must determine the phototype of the client’s skin, men representing 30% of her clientele.

“This diagnosis determines the duration of the session, which cannot exceed twenty-five minutes. The tan appears from the first session, and we recommend a gradual tan with short, spaced sessions. »

As provided for by legislation, warnings, the health risks for the skin and DNA from ultraviolet emission and the numerous usual precautions are displayed in each cabin, in particular the wearing of protective glasses.

Sunly operates without an appointment and “without a package so as not to encourage consumption”. But Lydia offers wide opening times: Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
