The Ulule campaign launched by La Solidairerie ended on September 12 with great success after a short period of suspense. But ultimately 149 contributions raised 6,465 euros, or 117% of the financial objective. This crowdfunding was intended to cover the first rents and the deposit for the essential premises at the launch of the associative and solidarity restaurant : the La Solidairerie association had even found a surface area large enough to accommodate a restaurant-tea room but also shows and a materials library with free participation.
A call for donations
With just over 200 square meters and a good location, the location seemed ideal and the rent affordable despite the numerous works to be carried out. On its Facebook page, the association also appealed for donations for equipment, but the project defended by Véronique Journot also requires a significant amount of volunteer work, particularly because of the work, an essential counterpart of a low rent. The restaurant-tea room intends to offer meals and drinks for all budgets on the principle of double pricing, always with the idea of avoiding waste and encouraging mutual aid, in particular through activities alongside the catering part.
The rent no longer the same?
In October, the project seemed on the verge of success with a signature that we thought was imminent: the first fifty contributors over €35 had even received, as promised, a recycled fabric bag in the Solidarity colors. But at the beginning of November, a message from Véronique Journot on Facebook announced that it was very likely that the lease would not be signed: the rent agreed orally had been revised upwards and currently exceeds the financial possibilities of Solidairerie.
Visits continue
However, Véronique Journot does not admit defeat by this hard blow and the association is still looking for premises of 200 m 2 or more. The visits continue but Véronique Journot has set a deadline for her research: “Knowing that I have been carrying out this project for three years already, that I have left a lot of energy on it, and that I also have a life to live in, if we do not have premises in sight by the end of December, I will reimburse, as I had committed to, all of the sums paid for crowdfunding, and will move on to other adventures. »
