13 factories worldwide

It was only at the end of the First World War, upon his return from mobilization in 1919, that he had the idea for a new product: a modern processed cheese which was kept in an airtight metal box. On the lid there is already an illustration of a laughing cow standing on its legs.
Three years later, small triangular portions were born in a cardboard box. Success was immediate: the Bel cheese factories opened to the European market in 1929.

After the Second World War, the company launched subsidiaries and built factories on five continents. Today, the brand has thirteen factories around the world, which produce 20 million portions of the famous cheese every day.
