The Ávila Chamber of Commerce and Industry achieves a surplus for the first time in the last decade

The plenary session of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Ávila has appointed Mercedes Contreras del Cura as acting general director of the entity. The Plenary has also approved the 2023 accounts, which record a surplus for the first time in a decade.

Mercedes Contreras is “from Burgos by birth and from Avila by adoption” and assumes the position of general director, which she has preceded as a technician of the Chamber in addition to having been linked to it for more than 25 years, except for the moments in which this entity remained closed.

The decision, at the proposal of the current president of the Avila institution, Alberto Pascual, It has been unanimously approved, valuing “his extensive knowledge of the Corporation, his total trust and loyalty, his ability to work, his impeccable track record and his versatility to carry out any assignment.”

Likewise, the 2023 Financial Statements have been approved in the entity’s plenary session, consisting of the profit and loss account, balance sheet, cash flow statement, changes in equity situation and the financial report.

Regarding the profit and loss account, the Chamber collects a surplus of 39,156.96 euros, a fact that has not occurred for more than a decade, and the Net Assets of the Chamber are 210,857.15 euros.

In December 2018, the Council of Chambers had to assume the management of the institution after the resignation en bloc of all its members. in the face of bankruptcy, with a debt of more than half a million euros. In December 2021, the Chamber recovered its activity.

Pascual, during his speech in the plenary session, defended “the need to continue increasing and betting on a wide training offer, especially in the province, both for young people, entrepreneurs, companies and the unemployed”, and extend the services and programs to the entire Avila territory free of charge for users.
