The first cruise ship of the season docked at Izmir Port. The cruise ship named “Astoria Grande” with 707 passengers, departing from Sochi, Russia, arrived in Izmir after its visit to Egypt.
The mostly Russian tourists on the ship will visit the historical Kemeraltı Bazaar in the city center and the Ancient City of Ephesus in the Selçuk district.
Astoria Grande will depart for Bartın’s Amasra district at night.

Yusuf Öztürk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chamber of Shipping (DTO) İzmir Branch, said that cruise expectations are very high this year.
Stating that 1.5 million passengers were reached across the country last year, Öztürk said, “Our expectations this year are much higher. 560 ships in Kuşadası, 68 in Izmir, and 74 in Çeşme have already made their reservations. I think the reservations will increase. 2024 across Turkey.” “We can easily close the trip with 2 million passengers.” said.
Öztürk noted that they are working to bring more ships to Izmir and said, “We strive to participate in all fairs and promotional meetings. In addition, we strive to promote Izmir, our region and the whole of Turkey with direct cruise representatives and superior managers in their centers.” he said.
