On the eve of the 13th day of mobilization against the pension reform, Laurent Berger wants to believe in the success of this May 1st. “The objective this morning is to succeed on May 1st, insists the secretary general of the CFDT, this Sunday on LCI, RTL and Figaro. It will be the biggest 1st of May on the social issues of the last 30 or 40 years. »

Against the pension reform, the various unions still show unfailing unity: “On May 2 in the morning, we will determine what to do. It is in our interest to continue to work as an inter-union on the question of work, ”confirms Laurent Berger.

However, he hinted at a little dissonant music in relation to the CGT, this Sunday: while Sophie Binet affirmed that the resumption of dialogue with the government was conditional on the abandonment of the reform, Laurent Berger assures that the CFDT will respond favorably to the Prime Minister’s invitation, when he receives it.

“Different approaches” between unions

“Of course we will discuss with (Élisabeth) Borne. For the moment, we do not have the invitation. If we get it, we’ll go talk. But he will ask himself the question of the method and the substantive subject, ”he says.

According to him, the “period of decency” has passed. “We will meet her in the format she decides, including a bilateral meeting”, that is to say without the CGT or FO. “We are going there to carry the voice of the workers. For three months, there was no meeting, that’s the most shocking thing. »

The secretary general of the CFDT assumes these “different approaches” between trade union organizations, which have always existed. “The inter-union is our wealth. This ability to express themselves in common on a certain number of subjects. We will continue to work like that, he reassures, that does not mean that we will always do the same thing, because our cultures and our means of action are not the same. »

Laurent Berger took the opportunity to scratch the government’s roadmap for the next 100 daysAnd the absence of “heading” in this plan: “It’s 100 days of not much for the moment, he tackles. We are not talking about youth, the fight against poverty, ecological transition. »
