With 600 companies representing 17,000 jobs and 4.2 billion euros in turnover, or 27% of the national total, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is one of the pillars of the textile sector in France.

Players in the textile sector (including UNITEX , Techtera and IFTH) and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region announced this Friday the signing of a sector agreement in order to support textile companies in the environmental transition.

The announced priorities include the promotion of eco-design, the reduction of water consumption, the optimization of the collection of textile waste and the development of a regional recycling sector.

“Improve the competitiveness of our companies, while responding to environmental challenges”

The program will be structured around four strategic axes: encouraging the transition of businesses towards a more virtuous economy, managing and promoting post-production textile materials, developing eco-design and preventing waste, sobriety and energy and water efficiency.

“This energy transition is crucial for improving the competitiveness of our businesses, while responding to environmental challenges,” commented Stéphanie Pernod, vice-president of the Region in charge of the economy in particular.
