“There are four players who benefit from meal vouchers: employees, employers, restaurants and issuers. It is not the minister alone in her office, nor the parliamentarians who must decide,” she adds, insisting on the fact that she has been “consulting them for several months”.
According to a ViaVoice study carried out for the national commission for meal vouchers, 96% of French people are in favor of extending the system. “It’s hard to say no,” she says when faced with the figure.
Dematerialize the meal ticket
The minister declares that “30% of meal vouchers are paper” before adding that they are the source of 40 million euros of purchasing power which disappears each year through the loss of a daily voucher. . “We often forget it in our bag, leave it in a coat or put it in the washing machine,” she illustrates.

Fears among restaurateurs
However, the minister recognizes the “concerns” of restaurateurs observing a drop in meal vouchers allocated to their establishments since the implementation of the system.
“Proposals are on the table, do we need 25 euros in restaurants and 25 euros in large and medium-sized stores? There are ideas for double ceilings which are currently being discussed,” she said on BFMTV.
The minister also calls for the inventiveness and boldness of restaurateurs, “we can very well imagine solutions, where the consumer would have access to promotions or a dessert if they use the restaurant voucher” she underlines .
